Fr. Nikolai greets the congregation with a bellowing, Hristos Voskrese - from a recording made in 1983 at the singing of the 9th Ode during Paskha service. Fr. Nikolai Porshnikoff, Holy Virgin Cathedral of SF, 1983 Created with http://tovid.io

Fr. Alexander's sermon for Palm Sunday 2018. It begins in Russian and about 4 min. in the English language part of the sermon begins.

Using the life of St. Mary, Fr. Alexander gives practical advice on repentance. The sermon begins in Russian. The English language sermon begins about 7 min. in.

Fr. Alexander focuses on the Gospel reading of the day [Mark 9:17–31], concerning the man searching for healing for his lunatic son from the Lord's disciples. I only managed to capture the English language sermon. I beg pardon; learning to use a new app.

In the middle of Great Lent, the Church presents us with the Holy Cross for veneration and consolation of the faithful in their acetic struggles toward Holy Pascha.

Third Sunday of Great Lent. Adoration of the Holy Cross. This is the end of the All Night Vigil service - the Great Doxology & the presentation to the faithful of the Life-giving Cross for veneration and edification of the congregation.

Fr. Alexander's sermon is based on the Epistle reading for the day: "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation." [Hebrews 2:3] He also gives practical advice on battling against our sins & passions, which is the true purpose of our fasting. The English language sermon starts about 8 min. in.

On the last Sunday before the 1st week of Great & Holy Lent, the Church serves a Vespers dedicated to forgiveness of one's neighbors & family (including church family). Father Alexander here gives a word (sermon is only in English today) to prepare us for the Forgiveness Vespers to be served directly after Liturgy. Father encourages us to take up the challenge and apply ourselves (each and everyone) somehow to the work of our own Salvation.

One week before the beginning of Great & Holy Lent, the Church remembers the account of our Lord of the Dread Final Judgement of all mankind (deceased or living). The English language portion of the sermon begins at about 9 min. in.

Father begins with a reading of a sermon from our ever memorable (reposed, † 1983) Bishop Nektary of Seattle. The sermon was originally given just before the glorification (1981) as saints of the New-Martyrs of Russia (who suffered under the Communist Yoke for their faith). The text in English is here: http://www.orthodox.net/articles/1981-bp-nektary-rpt.html I have a photo album posted of dear Vladika Nektary here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1970957869821952.1073741829.1642746469309762&type=1&l=f411d0345f We are already in the preparatory weeks for Great & Holy Lent. Two weeks before the beginning of Lent the Church remembers the parable of our Lord about the Prodigal Son and the all-forgiving love of the Father. Fr. Alexander gave his English language sermon (@ about 11 min. in) as a parallel between the 2 sons of the Father in this parable and the Russian Church at home (in Russia) & the Russian Church in the diaspora.

We are already in the preparatory weeks for Great & Holy Lent. Three weeks before the beginning of Lent the Church remembers the parable of our Lord about the pharisee and the publican who both went into the Temple to pray. The publican (tax-collector) through his humility and sincere repentance was justified by his prayer. The Pharisee, through proud boasting and judgement of others, was less pleasing in his prayer (though his works were indeed proper/true according to the Law) The Russian language sermon is first, followed by the English one after about 7 1/2 min.

This video combines the sermon for the day's commemoration (The Circumcision of Our Lord; St. Basil the Great; & the Old Calendar New Year) and a service of intercession on the new year. The sermon is followed by the moleben (@ about 12 min.) for the New Year. About 31 min. in, the Te Deum hymn from St. Ambrose of Milan is sung.

Fr. Alexander's sermon on the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ at Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Santa Rosa, CA. First given in Russian, then Father switches to English at about 7 min.

The Sunday before the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ; here is Fr. Alexander's sermon on this occasion at Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Santa Rosa, CA. First given in Russian, then Father switches to English at about 9 min.

Two Sundays before the Nativity of Christ, the Church commemorates the Sunday of the Forefathers. Here is Fr. Alexander's sermon on this occasion at Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Santa Rosa, CA. First given in Russian, then Father switches to English at about 7 min.

The sermon for the 28th week after Pentecost by Fr. Alexander at Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Santa Rosa, CA. First given in Russian, then Father switches to English at about 7 min.

Fr. Alexander reads the Epistle of the Holy Council of Bishops to the Clergy, Monks and Nuns and All Faithful Children of the Russian Orthodox Church, in Russian. The whole text in English can be found here: http://www.synod.com/synod/eng2017/20171203_enmoscowepistle.html Father next gives the English sermon on the topic of the Universal Church and the Kursk-Root Icon (whose commemoration was this day).
